Meet the founder

Numbers are personal.
So is the way we run them.

Tangerine isn't a firm with a marketing budget pretending to care. It's one CFO who decided small businesses deserved the same playbook the big ones get.

Mia Chavez · Founder & Principal

Twenty-five years of looking at the same problem from every chair in the room.

I grew up watching small business owners — neighbors, family, clients of the firms I worked at — get crushed by paperwork they shouldn't have had to think about. Spreadsheets they didn't understand. Tax bills they couldn't see coming. Payroll services that quietly added a fee here and a fee there until it cost more than the actual payroll.

I went the other direction. I climbed into the finance seat at a publicly traded company and learned what real, professional, year-round financial management looks like. Then I came back.

Tangerine exists so a restaurant owner in Glendale gets the same tax planning a Fortune 1000 CFO gets. So a contractor in Mesa doesn't get blindsided in April. So a Spanish-speaking solopreneur doesn't have to fight through legalese in her second language to figure out if she should be an S-Corp.

That's the work. That's the whole thing.
